Usually I get very inspired and excited about projects in which the client looks really passionate about what he does. The guys who came to us with this commission were just like that. They told us about all the fun children have at their holiday camps that I wished I was a child too.

The problem is that children's camps in Russia are often considered to be some boring places where parents send their kids just to get rid of them for some time. However Ochen! Travel Camp isn't just a regular one. It's a number of camps, each one of them is a special adventure game taking place somewhere in Russia or Europe. So it needed a fresh rebranding, and I was challenged to design an identity system that would convey the athmosphere of exciting adventures and various activities.

It was clear to me that in this case designing just one static logo isn’t enough. Different camps, different activities, different media to be branded — all this required some sort of a dynamic identity system. So I started to think about the logo together with additional graphic elements and the way they should be implemented in the whole system.

In search of a right metaphore I tried to use shapes of a star, a compass and a medal in the first sketches. But eventually I decided to focus on the idea of a path, like in a boardgame or on a treasure island, where adventures await you behind every corner.

The main graphic elements are colorful rhombus tiles with icons and patterns. They can be combined in various compositions, resembling some kind of map. Every camp means different adventures and needs a special identifier within the whole system. So each one has its own color palette and a set of icons. It is possible to use tiles with or without logo or camp’s name and to combine them in many different ways.

A lot of Ochen!'s clients were accustomed to the old logo, so it would be great to keep some familiar elements in the new one. I chose to go on with the star symbol and the orange color as the basic one.

The final logo is an energetic typographic composition inside a rhombus with a star symbol that reminds of the previous logo. In the short version for small sizes it becomes a single letter «O» with an exclamation mark.

All in all I designed the basic set of graphic elements, color palettes and rules how to use them for camps' branding (including the future ones) with several examples. Besides, a huge work was made by my agency teammates with the company's website and photos.
