Focusing mostly on illustration lately I noticed though that drawing characters and especially people isn't that comfortable for me. But it is supposed to be the most important and fun part! So what should I do? That's right — a drawing challenge! Practice, practice, practice.

The best way to start this kind of a challenge is to team up with someone with the same interests. My friend @proper_sketchbook came up with a list of daily prompts, invited others to join and cheered everyone up during that month.

I finished with 30 illustrations at the end of April. There is a whole lot of different creatures: people, existing and imaginary animals, anthropomorphic plants and so on. It was fun to give them names and to made a small description of their story or character. It felt like making them more unique and alive. My favorites are King of the Pond named Arthur, little Pack Rat, grumpy Flion, Blackberry Man, Flower Fox, Sad Gargoyle and of course Greg the Fat Mushroom.

I made all illustrations in Procreate app trying to be consistent and stick to a single style and color palette so they could look like a series.

Well, after a one month of everyday practice looks like drawing characters isn't that scary at all! I believe that a good llustration should tell a story, and a good story needs a hero I really enjoyed this challenge and looking forward to some more.
